India's leading smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday (January 5) unveiled the company's first phone for the year 2021-- Mi 10i-- in India.

The new Mi 10i is said to be a unique Indian variant made and built including the software features of the company's local team, Manu Kumar Jain, vice president (global) and managing director (India), Xiaomi.

It comes packed with the latest hardware, 5G support, faster charging capability, and much less expensive competing products. Also, it should be noted that the recently launched Moto G, an inexpensive 5G phone costs the same as the Mi 10i, but has lower computer hardware in terms of processor, camera, and other features.

The Xiaomi Mi 10i comes in three variants - 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage - with Rs 20,999, Rs 21,999 and Rs 23,999, respectively.

The company offers a special refund of Rs 2,000 to ICICI / bank card / bank card users for up to 12 months of low-cost EMI. It will be sold on January 7 to Mi.com, Mi Homes, Amazon.in, Mi Homes and Mi Studios, and later to authorized retail stores.

Here are my first thoughts on a new 5G phone from Xiaomi's house.

Design and display

The new Xiaomi Mi 10i, especially the Pacific Sunrise model showcases the multi-tone line. I have to say, it is different and right now, the most exciting phone on the market. Also, there are two more - Midnight Black & Atlantic Blue- and they are also fine.

On the front, it features a 6.67-inch full HD + LCD screen with 1080 × 2400p resolution, 450nits high brightness, and supports up to 120Hz refreshing display speed, HDR10 +. It is protected by a shield from the Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 and comes with an IP53 rating, which means the device can accidentally waste water or light rain.

It also has a fingerprint sensor placed on the side, double as a power button. It is very touching and works fast in terms of finger detection.

Camera

Aside from the design language, another notable feature of the Mi 10i is the graphics hardware. It has a quad-main 108MP camera module (1 / 1.52-inch Samsung HM2 sensor with 7P lens, 0.7μm pixel size, f / 1.75 aperture opening, LED Flash) + 8MP 120-degree sensor wide-wide + 2MP depth + 2MP large sensor.

On the front, it features a 16MP front-facing camera with f / 2.45 aperture.

Xiaomi Mi 10i Camera

As you can see in the sample photos, the Mi 10i takes beautiful and sharp images with details of the title removal taken at close range and in good light. However, it should be tested in low light, which I will present in the full review coming soon.

Processor, RAM, and storage

It runs Android 10-based MIUI 12 OS and is powered by Qualcomm's 8nm class Snapdragon 750G octa-core supported by Adreno 619 GPU. It also supports 5G and unfortunately, India does not have the infrastructure yet. Well, as soon as it is available, Mi 10i owners will be able to experience the fastest internet up to 1Gbps

Xiaomi's new phone comes with a 4,820mAh battery with up to 33W speed support.

In a short time, I spent time with the device, it worked well without any problems. However, I need more time to fully test the Mi 10i. Stay tuned for more detailed updates coming soon.
